Gulfside Center for Hospice Care at Pasco Regional Medical Center
Pasco County's First Hospital-based Hospice Inpatient Care Center
The Gulfside Center for Hospice Care at Pasco Regional Medical Center is the area's first hospital-based hospice inpatient unit. The Care Center is located on the hospital's second floor and features six private rooms. The Center is staffed with Gulfside nurses 24 hours a day and patients receive regular visits from physicians, social workers, chaplains and volunteers, just like Gulfside's patients at home.
Criteria for admission is the same as it is for Gulfside's other hospice centers. The highest level of hospice care is provided to patients at the Gulfside Center for Hospice Care at Pasco Regional Medical Center. The inpatient care option is primarily dedicated to providing care for patients who have challenging symptoms that can best be managed at the Center with around-the-clock care to help stabilize patients. When those symptoms are brought under control, patients can return to where most really want to be - their own home.
Thanks to this partnership, patients already in the hospital at Pasco Regional Medical Center will benefit from the continuity of being able to stay in place when they enter the Center, and their primary physician can continue to make rounds and direct the plan of care. Family members are welcome around the clock and overnight accommodations are available in each patient room. In the evening, visitors can use the emergency room entrance to access the hospital.
